How to Secure your pen drive.

This tutorial will show you how to create an encrypted volume on your pen drive using TrueCrypt. TrueCrypt is a software system for establishing and maintaining an on-the-fly-encrypted volume (data storage device). On-the-fly encryption means that data are automatically encrypted or decrypted right before they are loaded or saved, without any user intervention. No data stored on an encrypted volume can be read (decrypted) without using the correct password/keyfile(s) or correct encryption keys. Entire file system is encrypted (e.g.., file names, folder names, contents of every file, free space, meta data, etc).

You will need:
1) a USB drive
2) True Crypt

1. Preperation

Extract TrueCrypt zip files and copy the following files to the root of your pen drive. (There is no need to install TrueCrypt).
  • TrueCrypt Format.exe
  • TrueCrypt.exe
  • truecrypt.sys

2. Here we go!

Run TrueCrypt Format.exe

There are two of volumes, we will use the standard type. Click Next.

Type any name (with full path) to your pen drive, (example:- f:\secret). The name must be unique. Click Next.

3. Select the encryption type.
In this case it is AES-Twofish-Serpent. Click Next.

4. Size of the encrypted volume. Select the volume size to suit your needs. In this case we choose 512 mb. Click Next.

5. Now choose your secret password. And never forget it. Click Next.

6. Click the format button. Now TrueCrypt will format the volume. Don't worry! Your data will be safe.

Almost finished, but we need to know how to use the secret volume, right?

7. Download this file and copy it into the root of your pen drive.
Remove your pen drive and insert it again. Open my computer. Right click on the pen drive icon. You will see something like this.

To use the encrypted secret drive you will have to mount the secret drive. Click on the 'Mount secret drive' menu item. You will be prompted to enter your secret password. When you enter the secret password the secret drive s: will be mounted and should be visible in 'My computer' window. You can use this drive like an ordinary drive. Put all your secret files in this drive. When you are finished right click on the drive icon and Click on the 'Unmount secret drive' menu item.
After all it wasn't that difficult dho! Enjoy!

Enchance Windows Live Mesenger

While browsing through some tech sites an article about a WLM add-on called Messenger Discovery Live caught my eye. WLM is short of most wanted features like plygamy, spam protection, reading messages aloud etc.
For those who don't want to use the popular add-on Messenger Plus Live the Answer is MessengerDisccovery Live. This add-on has some features that I did not find in Messenger Plus Live. Some people may prefer Messenger Plus Live, but for now I would stick with Messenger Discovery Live. For more information visit Messenger Discovery Live. Give it a try guys. Enjoy!

Searching for information may not be as easy as it seems. Some people stick to wikipedia while others google for information. But isn't it better if you know where to find them? I have a list of some good websites from a PC magazine I bought a couple of months ago. I hope you'll find this useful.

Wives unclassified.

IT is not simply about machines, IT is about life. It's time for a little change of topic. I guess I'll have to write and sign a contract with my girlfriend before marriage! Girls.. Girls.. don't feel bad. The following sayings are not my words. I quoted them from another site.

BE SURE TO READ TO THE END.

I recently read that love is entirely a matter of chemistry. That must be why my wife treats me like toxic waste.
David Bissonette

When a man steals your wife, there is no better revenge than to let him keep her.
Sacha Guitry

After marriage, husband and wife become two sides of a coin; they just can't face each other, but still they stay together.
Hemant Joshi

By all means marry. If you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
Socrates

Woman inspires us to great things, and prevents us from achieving them.
Dumas

The great question... which I have not been able to answer... is, "What does a woman want?
Sigmund Freud

I had some words with my wife, and she had some paragraphs with me.
Anonymous

"Some people ask the secret of our long marriage. We take time to go to a restaurant two times a week. A little candlelight, dinner, soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesdays, I go Fridays."
Henny Youngman

"I don't worry about terrorism. I was married for two years."
Sam Kinison

"There's a way of transferring funds that is even faster than electronic banking. It's called marriage."
James Holt McGavran

"I've had bad luck with both my wives. The first one left me, and the second one didn't."
Patrick Murray

Two secrets to keep your marriage brimming
1. Whenever you're wrong, admit it,
2. Whenever you're right, shut up.
Nash

The most effective way to remember your wife's birthday is to forget it once...
Anonymous

You know what I did before I married? Anything I wanted to.
Henny Youngman

My wife and I were happy for twenty years. Then we met.
Rodney Dangerfield

A good wife always forgives her husband when she's wrong.
Milton Berle

Marriage is the only war where one sleeps with the enemy.
Anonymous

A man inserted an 'ad' in the classifieds: "Wife wanted". Next day he received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: "You can have mine."
Anonymous

First Guy (proudly): "My wife's an angel!"
Second Guy: "You're lucky, mine's still alive."

After reading all those sayings I am finally convinced that indeed I'll need to sign a contract with my to be wife. ;) That's what the great scientist Einstein did! He wrote a contract ( a work description ) and got his wife to sign it!
